Living the Christian Challenge

Beyond the Scars is a book of Christian poetry written by Liz Mellecke. As with too many women, Liz silently endured childhood sexual abuse. From her emotional trials of depression and hopelessness in dealing with this knowledge, Liz wrote poetry of the strength and hope she found in her Saviour, Jesus Christ. |
The back cover:
It takes a lot of ability to write thoughts and feelings in such a way that people will understand, and even more to put it into verse. Liz Mellecke has found a way. These pages contain a journey many of us would not want to take. Many women have, but few have the spiritual wherewithal to tell the tale.
Liz shows a strong commitment to her Lord Jesus Christ, to herself, her marriage, and her family. The love she has in that Saviour helps her to continue to the next pain and into the spiritual healing that only the God of us all can give. Her writing looks deeply into her own heart for the healing that will give hope to others. At times lost in her darkness and pain, she demonstrates the ongoing struggle – a struggle with the fear to ask for help, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Her spiritual suffocation is depicted in powerful words that might sneak up on the reader. She tells us how it is for her and in so doing, writes support for people who think they are not surviving.
Take a look at her beauty in her writing. See that she is truly one of His works in progress, travelling from the depth of sorrow to the wondrous surprise of being surrounded by God’s love in Christ’s strong arms. See the Lord’s hand in one women’s life as she finds she is not alone and that He knows what He is doing. See the faith that realizes it has a long way to go.
Rejoicing in His days, Robert C. Krestick
